PRP (Platelet rich plasma) therapy for hair loss

Platelet rich plasma therapy is an effective way to slow and even reverse hair loss in men and women. PRP is created by spinning a small amount of your own blood in a centrifuge to separate the blood cells from the plasma, and processing it so that the remaining plasma is 5 to 10 times more platelet-rich than untreated blood.  PRP is then administered to the scalp with micro injections, encouraging healing and reducing inflammation to stimulate new hair growth.

One 2015 study published in the journal Stem Cells Translational Medicine, found that men receiving PRP treatment grew more hair and with significantly more density than men who did not. Though the study was small-scale, the results were promising and many doctors have had fantastic results using PRP with their own patients to restore a more youthful appearance.

Ask your provider for more information if you are interested in starting PRP treatments.
